Shrewsbury Business Chamber’s recent executive committee meeting highlighted the emerging problem of a shortage of business ICT skills in the school leaver workforce, which adversely impacts their employability when compared with other job candidates. The Chamber has now resolved to address this skills shortage problem during their next meeting with Shrewsbury & Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski.

Networking events

Our summer networking programme is never complete without our Shrewsbury Flower Show networking breakfast, on Friday 10th August 2018. Tickets have just gone on sale on Eventbrite - £30 each for members, and £35 for non-members. The price includes entry and an exclusive preview to the show at 8am on the first morning of the show, as well as an informal breakfast with Chamber members and other businesses; you may then stay, or return as you please throughout the day to enjoy the packed programme right up until the end, with the famous fireworks display.

Our monthly networking events have been held at a number of venues including Berrys, Origins Restaurant, Shrewsbury Town FC, Shrewsbury Flower Show, Salop Design, Sabrina Boat, Shrewsbury Museum, Shrewsbury Prison and Salop Leisure's Love Plants/Love2stay facilities near Emstrey Island, all very well attended. Many of these events are FREE for members to attend, with a small administration fee of £6 for their guests and non-members

Executive committee meeting May 2018

The last meeting of the Executive Committee was held at Shrewsbury Shopping Centres' offices on Tuesday, 17th July 2018. Among the items on the agenda discussed, as well as the usual subsidiary committee meetings & reports, were updates on the LEP, Shrewsbury Bid and the Shropshire Business Board; the continuing progess of University Centre Shrewsbury; the Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package; stories for the Chamber Magazine; and upcoming Chamber networking meetings for the upcoming year. Local business trends and current issues were also discussed.
